Amazon Is Battling Console Scalpers With Invite-Based Ordering System

While Sony is yet to meet its goal of selling a planned amount of PS5s globally, there’re already rumors suggesting that an upgraded generation of consoles might arrive in the next two years. According to the tech giant TCL Technology, both PS5 and Xbox Series X might soon be upgraded to supercharged pro versions – much like it happened to the previous generation with PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. The company featured both gaming systems during a recent conference in Poland, although it might still be just a speculation based on how PS4 and Xbox One were upgraded.
Amazon’s innovation is a smart idea to weed out scalpers when it comes to selling new consoles. And while the company included both PS5 and Xbox Series X, scalping is not much of an issue for Microsoft anymore. In 2022, it is Sony that is primarily targeted by unscrupulous scammers who are about to have some hard times trying to purchase inadequate quantities of PS5s from Amazon. If the system proves to be efficient, other retailers might introduce a similar solution. While all of it sounds quite promising, many would have hoped that such a system arrived much earlier.
