Ant-Man 3’s New Cassie Lang Poses With Scott Lang In Costume At Disney

Kathryn Newton, who will portray Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, stopped to pose with Ant-Man on a recent trip to Disney. Newton is the third actress to have portrayed Cassie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp, Cassie was portrayed by Abby Ryder Fortson. However, Cassie wasn’t among the blipped, hence, when Avengers: Endgame came around, she had aged 5 years. This made Fortson too young to portray her and resulted in Emma Furhman portraying the older Cassie in Avengers: Endgame.
In 2020, as details of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania were revealed, it was announced that Cassie Lang had been recast again and would now be portrayed by Newton. Meanwhile, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer will all be returning to reprise their previous roles. Marvel never did address why they recast Cassie again. However, Newton is certainly a strong candidate for the role given her previous credits in the likes of Big Little Lies, Gary Unmarried, and The Society. So far, the actress seems to be embracing her role as Cassie.

Recently, Newton took to Instagram to share a photo of her posing with Ant-Man at Disney World. She seems to have spent the day at parks, soaking up all the Marvel and Disney fun. In her Instagram stories, she revealed that, in addition to finding Ant-Man, she also found Cassie’s locker on the Spider-Man ride and stopped for a delicious Minnie Mouse cake pop. Newton’s cute photo shows her enthusiasm for her upcoming role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Details of the film have been kept tightly under wraps, but many are curious about Cassie’s role in it. Now that she is a little bit older, she may very well be taking up one her own hero aliases from the comic books, such as Stature or Ant-Girl. In the comics, Cassie is a member of the Young Avengers, as well. In Ant-Man, the younger Cassie very openly dreamed about being a superhero like her father. Perhaps, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see her dream come to fruition. At the same time, though, her role is likely to also be very emotional, as it remains to be seen how Scott Lang (Rudd) and Cassie rebuild their relationship after Lang disappeared for 5 years.

Fortunately, the wait to see Newton as Cassie actually isn’t too long. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to release on February 17, 2023, making it the first MCU film of 2023. In addition to Newton, another new face in the Ant-Man series will be Jonathan Majors. Majors will be reprising his role as Kang the Conqueror, a role he previously portrayed in Loki. However, it has been confirmed this Kang is a different variation of the Kang in Loki who went by the name He Who Remains. With the return of the film series’ cast, along with the new faces of Newton and Majors, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is shaping up to be a very intriguing installment in the Ant-Man franchise.
