Borderlands movie unveils Cate Blanchett’s Lilith and Jack Black’s Claptrap in CinemaCon first footage
Lionsgate gave a first look at its upcoming video game adaptation, Borderlands, during CinemaCon this week, and it looks like it’s going to be a colorful and star-studded event for those in attendance.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the one-minute clip opens with Lilith, a character pulled straight from the source material by Cate Blanchett, waving her gun and wearing a “red firefighter wig.” He then makes his way through a bustling cityscape before Roland, Kevin Hart’s mercenary, briefly appears.
The trailer ends with Jack Black’s Claptrap robot receiving an unexpected bullet from Lilith’s blaster.
Little is known about the Eli Roth-directed film so far. However, we do know that Blanchett, Hart, and Black will be joining the screen with names like Cheyenne Jackson, Haley Bennett, Janina Gavankar, Edgar Ramirez, Florian Munteanu, Bobby Lee, Haley Bennett, Gina Gershon, and American Horror Story’s Jamie. Lee Curtis.
Ariana Greenblatt of Love and Monsters also stars as 13-year-old explosives expert Tiny Tina.
In June 2021, Borderlands took to social media to share a black and white image of Blanchett’s Lilith, but since it was backlit, you could only see her silhouette. Yet nothing ruffled the mermaid-like fighter’s hair, shoulder pads, gun holsters, and combat boots.
He captioned the photo, “When I’m here you can actually go somewhere.”
Prepped to play Tannis, Curtis admitted to taking secret behind-the-scenes footage from Instagram around the time Borderlands uploaded it to Twitter.
“Welcome to BORDERLANDS, and a sneaky BTS shoot where I filmed our legendary hero, the psychopathic, vault-hunting witch Lilith with a mean attitude, and two Oscars, to add to the evil in the toolbelt, the queen of EVERYTHING, once and in the future,” he wrote, further “if you’re good” before promising to send it, and the studio won’t fire it.
“Soon you’ll see the incredible mix of adventure, action and badonkadonk comedy from the world’s brilliant minds. [director Eli Roth] and game creator Randy Pitchford.
