Dave Filoni Reveals Which Jedi Luke Skywalker Is Most Like

Qui-Gon Jinn understood the concept of balance rather better than most Jedi, simply because he had studied the ancient Jedi prophecies and learned their secrets; in the same way, Luke had learned not from the Jedi Temple but from Holocrons and sacred texts that had been lost for millennia, giving him a very different window into the Force than most prequel Jedi. The two are further alike in their philosophy on attachment, because Qui-Gon understood the difference between love and attachment, and believed Jedi should encourage the former within them while challenging the latter. Luke would undoubtedly have agreed with this view, aware it was love that redeemed Darth Vader and ultimately defeated the Emperor.
And yet, for all that’s the case, many viewers felt the Luke Skywalker of The Book of Boba Fett was still a little too like Yoda. Luke presented Grogu with a choice between the Jedi path and the Way of the Mandalorian – a teaching strategy Qui-Gon is unlikely to have employed, given he allowed his own apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi a lot more time to process his complicated feelings for Duchess Satine of Mandalore rather than causing such a premature confrontation. For all Luke learned from other mentors, the truth is that Yoda remained his most influential mentor, and it really does feel as though he reproduced Master Yoda’s teachings as the Star Wars saga continued. That, sadly, may explain why his Jedi Order had to be destroyed, so the Jedi could begin again under Rey.
