Since these weapons can be crafted, you must first unlock perks by upgrading your weapon (using it in fights and events). We have specified the required level in the list below.

  • Supercooled Accelerator: 3

Each of the perks listed above also has an upgraded version. Enhanced perks increase the ability duration, perk effectiveness, or a weapon’s stat. For example, Enhanced Kill Clip increases the duration of the Kill Clip buff; Improved Threshold increases the amount of Super Energy you gain from kills; and Enhanced Impulse Amplifier increase weapon reload stats. Advanced perks are almost always worth aiming for, but not required.

As of this writing, you don’t unlock the advanced perks permanently, so test out the regular perks first and see if you like them, then consider upgrading to their advanced version.

While glaives have their place in PvE, they’re usually overrun with seasonal artifact mods like Suppressing Glaive and Unstoppable Glaive (so they may not work well after May 24). In high-end content, they can lag behind their special weapon counterparts, but there are times when the glaive shield trait can really shine.

Here is our basic recommendation for a PvE glaive:

  • the week: Light Transmitter (recharge) or Ballistic Tune (range)
  • magazine: LightMag
  • advantage 1: Pulse amplifier
  • Advantage 2: frenzy

Here are some other benefit combinations to consider:

  • Light emitter, Light Mag, pulse and continuous amplifier

PvP perks and perks to consider

As of this writing, Glaives isn’t great in PvP – but it can be fun to use. If you’re setting up The Enigma for PvP, you’ll want to determine range, shield duration, or a balance of the two. These are the two most influential stats on Glaive right now.

Here is our basic recommendation for a PvP glaive:

  • the week: Auxiliary reserves (protection time) or ballistic adjustment (range)
  • magazine: Light Mag (reload/range) or Swap Mag (rate of change)
  • advantage 1: Pulse amplifier
  • Advantage 2: Kill the clip
