Doctor Who: David Tennant & Classic Companions to Return in Audio Drama

David Tennant is gearing up to once again return to the world of entertainment. Doctor Who in a new audio drama that will see her reunite with her friends from the classic series. Tennant was cast as the Tenth Doctor in 2005, after Christopher Eccleston’s brief but successful tenure in the role. The actor’s time on the show between 2005 and 2010 included fellow Timelord Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) and Donna Noble (Catherine Tate). When Tennant finally said goodbye to the role in 2010, the BBC reportedly considered canceling the series rather than continuing it with a new Doctor, such was his incarnation’s popularity at the time.

But despite leaving the role full-time 12 years ago, Tennant has returned frequently in recent years to play the Tenth Doctor. After briefly resurrecting the character in 2013 Doctor WhoIn the special 50th anniversary episode “The Day of the Doctor”, the actor returned to the role several times, especially in the official film. Along with providing new adventures for the Tenth Doctor, these audio dramas also saw him team up with the Time Lord incarnations of Tom Baker and Peter Davison and meet his future wife, Professor River Song, and her lover. -nemesis, Master. Now, it’s been confirmed that Tennant will return for another outing as Timelord for Big Finish Productions, and this time he’ll be joined by a host of familiar faces from the franchise’s classic franchise. Big Finish is famous for bringing back the old. Doctor Who actors for new stories, especially those from the show’s original run between 1963 and 1989. The exciting cast of the audio drama reveals that Tennant’s Doctor will team up with the Fourth Doctor’s friend Leela (Jameson) and friend of the fifth doctor Nyssa (Sutton). and the Seventh Doctor’s friend Ace (Aldred). Additionally, the inclusion of John Leeson indicates that the Tenth Doctor will reunite with his beloved mechanical dog K-9. But the cover also features an image of a creature from the 1971 story “The Claws of Axos,” suggesting that it’s not just fellow travelers who return from the classic series to encounter an incarnation of Tennant.

This announcement will no doubt be very exciting for both classic and modern fans. Doctor Who. Aldred’s return is particularly noteworthy, as Ace will meet Whittaker’s doctor and another classic companion, Tegan Jovanka (Janet Fielding), on-screen in the story of Whittaker’s reincarnation.
