Don’t Worry, We Already Know THAT Stranger Things Character Won’t Die
The show hasn’t shied away from killing off characters before and, as it nears its endgame – Stranger Things season 5 will be the last – it will presumably ramp up the body count. That should mean Nancy’s death is certainly plausible, and while it cannot be ruled out 100%, it’s already been confirmed that it won’t be as a result of Stranger Things season 4, volume 1’s cliffhanger ending. In both the official and final Stranger Things 4 trailers, several characters from the group can be seen with weapons in the Upside Down, including Nancy wielding a gun. This doesn’t happen in volume 1, so it can be reasonably assumed that, barring some deliberate fake scenes, there is a rescue mission. That plan had been to use Nancy’s guns, so it’s possible the weapons come from her cache, or that they go ahead with the original idea of raiding Hawkins police station and taking weapons from there, but either way Stranger Things 4‘s characters are about to fight, and Nancy is very much alive for and part of that.
Based on what’s in the trailers, the fight also includes characters such as Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), which in turn implies Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max will be involved too. There are also the shots of Eddie playing guitar in the Upside Down; it made little sense at the time, but knowing the importance of music in helping to avoid Vecna’s clutches then that could be how the group can escape from him en masse. To be sure, there’s a good chance one or more of those characters will die in the fight against Vecna in Stranger Things season 4, volume 2, and that could be Nancy – though Steve arguably seems more likely, to fully complete his redemption arc – but that’s not what’s happening to her at the end of volume 1.
Stranger Things season 4, volume 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Volume 2 releases on July 1, 2022.
