DWTS: Derek Hough & Hayley Erbert Are Engaged

Dancing With The Stars champion and judge Derek Hough is engaged to fellow DWTS alum Hayley Erbert. Derek is a dance extraordinaire and six-time DWTS champion, winning with celebrities like Amber Riley, Bindi Irwin and Nicole Scherzinger. Derek spent four years judging the NBC dance competition World Of Dance before it was canceled in 2020. Since then, Derek has gone back to DWTS as a judge, where he has been for the last two years, and he recently confirmed that he’s returning to the show for its new season this fall, which will stream live on Disney+.
Hayley began her career as a contemporary dancer in So You Think You Can Dance season 10, where she made it to the Top 6 that year. In 2015, she joined DWTS to be a member of their troupe, which danced in group numbers and as background performers in certain routines. Hayley was in the DWTS troupe for seven seasons before being let go in 2019. Derek and Hayley met in 2014 when she joined him on tour as a dancer, and they officially started dating a year later.

The couple announced their engagement in a sweet Instagram post, with Derek simply saying, “It’s only the beginning…the beginning of forever.” According to People, Derek bought Hayley a “breathtaking” Paris Jewellers ring. Derek utilized the help of Troy Williams from Simply Troy Lifestyle + Events for the proposal. Troy described Derek’s idea for the proposal, saying, “He wanted their home transformed. They’re an adventurous couple and have seen such big moments, but their home is their sanctuary and it’s where they fell even more in love.” They completely redecorated the home while the couple was out at dinner, and Derek proposed when they got back.

The couple’s Instagram post was flooded with thousands of loving comments, including some from their DWTS family and others in the dance and entertainment industry, including Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Ariana DeBose and Colbie Caillat. One of Derek’s former partners, Paralympian Amy Purdy, commented, “This made me tear up. I’m so happy for you guys!!!” The couple started a YouTube series during the pandemic where they created entertaining videos, putting their love for each other out there for the world to see.
