If you need the perfect Easter craft idea, this little project is just the thing to do with your kids.

If your kids love to color, use the black and white version that easily doubles as an Easter coloring page and print out the color version ahead of time if your little ones just want to cut, paste and craft.

How to make an Easter basket DIY

What do you need:

  • printable template
  • the scissors
  • glue
  • painting supplies

step by step tutorial

Start by printing the models.

It is better to use a deck of cards (thicker printing paper). However, regular printer paper will suffice.

If your kids are working with the black and white version, let them color in the model first, as it’s much easier than cutting out all the pieces first and then painting them.

Cut out parts of the template after coloring or using the pre-colored template.

Next comes the folding of the basket.

More folding.

A few more wrinkles.

It’s time to start weaving. Take one of the strips and apply glue to one end.

Glue it to one end (bottom) of the basket and start weaving.

Knit on the other side…

…and finally glue the tape.

Repeat with all the other strips of paper until your Easter basket is completely woven.

Now let’s make paper egg cups.

Fold the papers.

Apply glue to one end.

Also add a little glue on the “glue” part. And stick the egg on the “glue” area.

You can go ahead and place the eggs in the basket, apply glue with the egg to the other end of the paper and glue it to the “wall” of the basket.

Glue two eggs to the back and one to the front.

It should look like this.

Finally, add the handle…

And bow down.

Everything is done, your Easter basket is finished.
