Knowing everything to do in Elden Ring before NG+ or New Game Plus is a great checklist. Elden Ring has all sorts of things you can find, and listing what to do before NG+ to maximize your experience and power can be a campaign in itself! With special gear, resources, forging stones, quests and more, Elden Ring goes way beyond the main storyline.

It’s also worth remembering that Elden Ring New Game Plus is an even bigger challenge than the original campaign, but only if you’re not fully equipped with the best items. Everything to do in Elden Ring before starting NG+

The most important thing you need to do in Elden Ring before starting New Game Plus is to make sure you find everything that is unique, cannot be farmed or obtained forever in a single game. Otherwise, you are missing the chance from getting them all until you start the new game and come back to that point. With that in mind, there are some important things you should do before returning to the Low Darkness era.

Unique items to get before starting Elden Ring NG+

We’ll start with a basic list of items. These can be found in all games, but they can’t be planted in the base game or New Game Plus forever, so be sure to get as many as you can from these limited resources.

Find all Elden Ring Map Pieces (yes, those are imported into NG+)
Find all of the Elden Ring Gold Seeds to maximize the use of your bottles.
Find all 12 Sacred Tears to increase the effectiveness of your Flasks.
Find as many Larval Tears as possible. These are used to show respect to your character, as shown on our Elden Ring and Larval Tears Tribute page. We’ve even figured out where to find them all!
Find as many Elden Ring Stonesword Keys as possible.
Find all the Crystal Tears to ensure your flask of Wonder Physick has as much versatility as possible.
Find all Unique Elder Dragon Docking Stones (13 total) and Dark Elder Dragon Docking Stones (8 total) – these cannot be farmed but will be crafted, so this is your best chance to maximize the amount you have. Or spend it on your weapons to fuel them before the transfer – useless, useless.
Find all Great Grave Glovewort and Great Ghost Glovewort upgrades for Evil Summon.

All of these items are unique and cannot be farmed indefinitely, so make sure you get them now. You’ll be able to get them again in NG+, but you’re still working from a limited pool anyway, and if you don’t, you’re not as efficient as possible. Needless to say, these are now much easier to obtain at the end of a campaign than replenishing your supply by entering another game.

Things to do before Elden Ring NG+

Below, we’ll give you some helpful tips on which special experiences, places, locations, and activities make the best endgame for an Expedition, instead of trying to go back next time. We’ve also linked to more detailed explanations below, so just click on any of these ideas for more information on what we mean and what we’ll do.

Use all the Walking Tombs to duplicate as many Monuments as possible and spend them with the Enia Finger Reader.
If you want to use all spells, weapons, remains of ashes and legendary talismans or if you try related achievements/trophies, find them.
Complete all NPC missions and kill the bosses you want to do.
Use the vast resources and opportunities available to create the best possible build for your character.
Collect endgame fields to get many runes and maximize your wealth.
Consume these runes with purchases and levels.

Traveling shrines and souvenirs

The Walking Mausoleums are huge, four-legged landmasses that orbit the Elden Ring, each with a stone building on it. These buildings can be used to multiply the special memories you get from killing bosses even after using them! This way you can get both special items and spells from each Memory – but not infinitely.

Each mausoleum can only be used once and even then there are limitations – some mausoleums have bells underneath and some don’t. Those who cannot can only reproduce certain Memories, not any of them.

With only 7 walking mausoleums in total in Elden Ring, two of which have no bells and you can’t duplicate their demigod shard-carrying memories, you won’t be able to get all of the rewards for every memorial. It’s worth it, especially since you can boost your rewards a bit more when they come back in NG+.

Legendary spells, weapons, remains of ashes and talismans

Most players won’t need it Each Legendary items won’t be compatible with the build most players want, but regardless, they’re good to have and there’s sure to be some you can use. There are also achievements and trophies for collecting all four types (one achievement for each category), but depending on your progress, you might have missed your chance to get some.

Clear NPC quests and bosses

It’s obvious, but before you say goodbye, make sure your business is fully committed! The questlines are some of the best parts of the game, and there are plenty of fun optional bosses like Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, or the legendary Malenia. With all the vendors, bosses, areas, and special items available at this point, now is a great time to experiment with your build and transform into something better to be as prepared as possible for the tougher NG+. Build end game farm fields for runes

Again, since you have access to everything, it’s much easier to find good farming and grinding areas where you can easily collect tens of thousands of runes than at the start of the NG+ game. We have prepared a page on Elden Ring Rune farming sites with information on how players can get rich real quick. Who can oppose it?

Spend these runes on levels, items, spells and iron stones

Spend those runes! With all the merchants currently at your disposal, be sure to buy anything you can’t get at the start of the game. Level up if you think you need to, but also get items that seem valuable and enchantments obtained through prayer books and spell scrolls.

You also need to buy as many Smithing Stones as you can – dozens, if not hundreds. If you’ve tried to find all of the Elden Ring Bell Bearing positions for Twin Husks in Roundtable Hold, there’s bad news – for them they won’t remember you found them in NG+ and you’ll have to buy them everywhere. Again. Until that happens, stock up on Ironstones (or find them on our Elden Ring Ironstones page) and any other items you want, to make sure you don’t run out while you don’t. have not recovered your Bell Bearings.

Speaking of Bell Bearings, what will and won’t carry over to the New Game Plus might seem a bit arbitrary, but it’s worth knowing to fully understand what the experience will bring you. The main thing to do in Elden Ring before starting New Game Plus is to make sure you’ve found everything that’s unique, that can’t be farmed or obtained infinitely in a single playthrough. Otherwise you miss the chance to get them altogether until starting the new game and getting back to this point. With that in mind, here’s some essential things to do before rewinding back to the time of being a lowly Tarnished.
Unique items to get before starting Elden Ring NG+

We’ll start with a basic list of items. These can be found in all playthroughs, but they can’t be farmed infinitely in the base game or New Game Plus, so make sure you get as many as possible of these finite resources.
Find all the Elden Ring map fragments (yes, these carry over into NG+)
Find all the Elden Ring Golden Seeds to max out your Flasks’ uses.
Find all 12 Sacred Tears to enhance your Flasks’ effectiveness.
Locate as many Larval Tears as possible. These are used to respec your character, as outlined in our Elden Ring respec and Larval Tears page. We’ve even outlined where to find them all!
Locate as many Elden Ring Stonesword Keys as possible.
Find all the Crystal Tears to ensure your Flask of Wondrous Physick has as much versatility as possible.
Find all the unique Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones (13 total) and Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones (8 total) – these can’t be farmed but will carry over, so this is your best chance to maximise how many you have. Or just spend them on your weapons to boost them before you transfer – what works, works.
Find all the Great Grave Glovewort and Great Ghost Glovewort for Spirit Summon upgrades.
All of these items are unique and can’t be farmed forever, so you need to make sure you obtain them now. You’ll be able to get them again in NG+, but you’re still working from a limited pool either way and aren’t being as efficient as possible if you don’t. Not to mention that it’s much easier to get them now, at the end of one campaign, than to replenish your stock going into another game.

Use all the Walking Mausoleums to duplicate as many Remembrances as you can and spend them with Finger Reader Enia.
Locate all the Legendary Spells, Weapons, Ashen Remains and Talismans if you want to use them, or if you’re attempting the related Achievements/Trophies.
Clear any NPC quests and kill any bosses you’re interested in doing.
Use the expansive resources and opportunities available to make the best possible build for your character.
Farm late-game areas to get lots of Runes and maximise your wealth.
Exhaust those Runes with purchases and levels.
Walking Mausoleums and Remembrances

Walking Mausoleums are the giant, four-legged landmasses that amble about Elden Ring, each one with a stone building resting on top. These buildings can be used to duplicate the special Remembrances you get from killing bosses, even after you’ve used them! This way you can get both special items or spells from each Remembrance – though not infinitely.
Each Mausoleum can only be used once, and even then there’s limitations – some Mausoleums have ringing bells beneath them, and some don’t. Those that don’t can only duplicate certain Remembrances, not any of them.
With only 7 Walking Mausoleums in total across Elden Ring, and two of which that’re bell-less and can’t duplicate the Demigod Shardbearer Remembrances, you won’t come away with every prize for every Remembrance. Still, it’s worth doing, especially considering you can fill out your prizes a little more when they come back in NG+.
