The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer has revealed three more new Pokémon to the series: Pawmi, Smoliv, and Lechonk. New Professors Revealed For Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Two new professors have been revealed in the latest Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer, Professors Sada and Turo. In a first for Pokémon games, players will have a different professor depending on which game they purchase. With her prehistoric look, Professor Sada will be the professor for Pokémon Scarlet, and Professor Turo, with his futuristic look, will be the professor in Pokémon Violet. Both are tasked with researching lore passed down in the region.

Scarlet & Violet’s New Legendary Pokémon Have Names With Hidden Meanings

The two new Scarlet and Violet Legendary Pokémon and box art have been revealed in the trailer. Koraidon will be exclusive for Pokémon Scarlet and Miraidon will be exclusive for Pokémon Violet. Aside from a look at their appearance, not much information was given, unless viewers do a little research and look a little closer.

Looking at the names of the new Legendary Pokémon reveals a little bit more about them. The word “korai” in Japanese means “ancient” or “time-honored”. This combined with the appearance of both Koraidon and Professor Sada seems to link Pokémon Scarlet with the ancient past. The word “mirai” in Japanese means “future”. Putting this together with Professor Turo’s futuristic look points toward Pokémon Violet focusing on the future.

According to some Scarlet and Violet leaks and rumors, both Legendary Pokémon look rideable, possibly similar to the mounts in Legends: Arceus. The shape of each resembles a type of motorcycle, with the horns being the handlebars and the torso and body resembling the wheels. This could hint at players being able to ride on Legendary Pokémon.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Introduces Multiplayer

Game Freak has announced that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be the first open-world RPG in the Pokémon series, unlike Legends: Arceus which was a semi-open world. Players will also be able to explore this open world with up to three other players. This is something new for a Pokémon game, as usually players can only trade and battle with other players. It has yet to be revealed exactly how this will work as far as local versus online play and game versions.

New Wilderness-Based Pokémon Centers Revealed For Scarlet & Violet

One of the more talked about aspects from the new trailer is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s changed Pokémon centers. They appear to be more of a kiosk than the usual building from previous games and if viewers look closely, they can see that these kiosks also serve as the Poké Mart and possibly an apparel shop as well, given the ad for shoes seen in the image. These Pokémon Centers look to be spread out throughout the wilderness of the game as opposed to only appearing in populated areas.

The trailer shows players in a variety of different ecosystems, some with corresponding gyms. Viewers can catch a snow-covered landscape, a beach, a desert, caves, sprawling grass-covered hills, and coastlands. This will give players a variety of different types of Pokémon to catch, perhaps with the added convenience of nearby Pokémon Center kiosks.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trailer Hints At Legends: Arceus-Style Catching

In the latest Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer, a player is shown creeping up on a Smoliv and then throwing a Pokéball and catching the Pokémon. This hints at the same type of Pokémon catching mechanism used in Pokémon Legends: Arceus where players can throw a Pokéball directly at a Pokémon to try and catch it instead of having to engage in battle each time a player encounters a Pokémon. This would also make Scarlet and Violet‘s open-world more seamless by avoiding more loading screens.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trailer Reveals New Rival/Friend

Most Pokémon games provide the player with another Pokémon trainer who is a close friend and possible rival throughout their journey. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s trailer revealed that this time around, Namara will be playing this role. Namara engages the player in their first Pokémon battle in the new games and will probably be there throughout the game to test the player’s battle skills and give the player in-game tips, like most sometimes annoying Pokémon rivals.

The trailer shows that Namara asks the player, “Are you these three’s Trainer?” which implies that the player has three Pokémon when they speak. This takes place right after the reveal of the three new starter Pokémon. It is possible that, instead of like the previous Pokémon games where players had to choose one starter, Namara is hinting that players get all three new starters at the beginning of the game.

The amount of information given in the latest Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer was vast, especially if viewers were willing to watch it multiple times. With almost six months still to wait until the release, fans will be coming up with plenty of theories and presumptions about exactly what they may be getting with the new game. Hopefully, some of these Pokémon Scarlet and Violet theories will turn out to be true and the game will be everything fans hope for.
