FF16 Gameplay, Combat & Release Window Revealed In New Trailer
A new trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 has officially been revealed during Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play event, offering fans a fresh look at the more action-oriented take on the Final Fantasy franchise. The game was one of many announcements from the livestream, with Sony previously confirming the show would mostly focus on third-party developers and PSVR2.
Final Fantasy fans have had lots of content to delve into over the last few years, with even more planned for the future. Following on from the release of the critically-acclaimed FF7 Remake, players have also been enjoying everything Final Fantasy 14 has to offer. This is alongside a number of other new or upcoming titles, including Chocobo GP, FF7: Ever Crisis, and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy. Despite the slew of releases fans have to look forward to, many eyes have been on FF16, with players eagerly awaiting news on the previously-announced title. While news on the release was expected last year, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida revealed details would be coming in 2022 due to various production complications, partly related to the global pandemic.

One of the biggest reveals from PlayStation’s June State of Play event was a look at the gameplay and world of Final Fantasy 16, finally putting to rest players’ curiosities over its combat, action, and style. The trailer offered a taste of what can be expected when the PS5-exclusive game finally releases. Also put to rest is fans’ concerns over its release, as FF16 has officially been given a summer 2023 release window.
The latest reveal for FF16 seems to be just the beginning of an impressive 2022 for fans. Earlier this year, Square Enix launched the Final Fantasy 35th anniversary website, teasing not only new game announcements, but also other news expected to be released throughout the rest of 2022. FF fans were perhaps expecting news on Final Fantasy 16 during the State of Play, not only due to PlayStation’s confirmation of a focus on third-party developers, but also due to the timeliness of the anniversary website going live.
There’s still lots of details fans don’t yet know about FF16, but the new trailer will hopefully go some way in appeasing those who’ve been eagerly awaiting fresh news on the game. While there’s still some time until its summer 2023 release, players will have no shortage of Final Fantasy content in the coming months, and the latest Final Fantasy 16 reveal trailer serves as a promising start for what should be an exciting year for fans of the beloved franchise.
