Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis To Launch In September

The past few years have been an exciting time for fans of Final Fantasy VII, as the first installment of the long-awaited and much-hoped-for Final Fantasy VII: Remake was finally released to great success in 2020. This first chapter in what is expected to be a larger series retold and expanded upon the original Final Fantasy VII’s early chapters in the city of Midgar. The following year, Square Enix would then release the DLC expansion FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, a Yuffie-focused side story that supposedly sets up storylines for the next proper Final Fantasy VII: Remake game. Other recent Final Fantasy VII games include the mobile-based battle royale title Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier and a kart racer named Chocobo GP – though reception to both of these games hasn’t been as warm as that of Final Fantasy VII: Remake.

Some fans are understandably concerned that Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis could meet the same fate given its current status as a mobile exclusive and its microtransaction-based gacha mechanics, but there’s little denying that a retelling of the entire Final Fantasy VII storyline in a single game is an intriguing idea. Players will get to see that idea in action when Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis launches for Android and iOS-compatible mobile devices sometime in late September.
