FNAF: Security Breach Free DLC Announced With Cryptic Artwork
A free DLC update for FNAF: Security Breach has been announced with a cryptic teaser image hinting at what lies in store. Developer Steel Wool Studios first announced plans for FNAF: Security Breach DLC last year, suggesting that the Halloween-themed Dreadbear may make an appearance.
As the latest entry in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, Security Breach understandably attracted a huge amount of attention upon its release, especially thanks to its AAA-like makeover and new stealth-action gameplay mechanics. Unfortunately, the game turned out to be riddled with bugs that often made it incredibly frustrating to play. Thankfully, subsequent patches have helped to fix these problems, leaving the community to puzzle over the game’s various endings and the implications for the wider lore of the franchise. Several questions were left unanswered by the many endings of FNAF: Security Breach, leaving hopes high for future DLC to provide answers.

The first teaser image for the new FNAF: Security Breach DLC, entitled Ruin, has now been revealed by Steel Wool Studios. Releasing for free in 2023, fans still have some time to wait before returning to the Pizzaplex in the game’s first DLC, though the image is filled with details that hint at various plot points which will no doubt prompt a flurry of theorizing and debate from the community in the meantime. Most prominent is what may be a new player character: a young girl exploring what appears to be the Mega Pizzaplex’s lobby, in a state of severe disrepair. It seems that the Pizzaplex may have been abandoned following the events of Security Breach, with the statue of Glamrock Freddy now lying in pieces and rubble visible in the corners of the image. A severely damaged Glamrock animatronic stands to one side, implying that FNAF‘s popular Chica may play a significant role in the DLC’s story.

Another perhaps significant detail in the FNAF: Security Breach DLC reveal is a collection of screens displaying images of Gregory, alongside a cry for help. This seems to suggest that the story of Ruin will involve players attempting to rescue Gregory from the Pizzaplex, though this has yet to be confirmed. One other curious detail to note is a pair of red glowing eyes, which can be seen in the top right corner, looking down at the scene below. Red eyes could indicate any one of several characters being a major threat in the new DLC, including the Daycare Attendant and FNAF: Security Breach‘s potentially brainwashed Vanny, whose fate following the true ending of Security Breach remains unknown. In any case, the positioning suggests that there will be a greater-scope villain operating from the shadows during the course of Ruin.
The DLC expansion for FNAF: Security Breach will no doubt have fans excited to see what’s to come for the series’ lore. While Ruin‘s release is still some time off, the teaser indicates a very interesting narrative is on the way. With the apparent focus on Gregory, there may be an insight into the validity of the popular theory that he is secretly an animatronic himself. In addition, the origins of the new female character taking center stage will no doubt also be at the forefront of many discussions. There may even finally be an answer to what lies behind the locked level 10 FNAF: Security Breach security doors. In any case, the long-awaited DLC for FNAF: Security Breach is finally on the horizon.
