Game of Thrones’ Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane just got a FIFA 19 Ultimate Team card

Gregor ‘Mountain’ Clegane, one of Game of Thrones’ most popular and monstrous characters, survived Oberyn Martell’s poisoning and was kicked out of the Riverlands by all of Qyburn’s experiments – but the community still rage of FIFA 19 can be a whole different challenge.

The monster man every GoT fan loves to hate is now the proud owner of his very own Ultimate Team card, as revealed by another bigger-than-truth personality: Wycombe Wanderers center Adebayo Akinfenwa. In fact, it’s a light lie. Clegane’s real nickname is Icelandic actor Hafşór Júlíus Björnsson, who was credited with his own card.

They made the mountain a CB. What kind of conflict would that be 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ps how are they going to make it faster than me? BMO Adebayo Akinfenwa

While Akinfenwa is the man breaking the news, he came with a friendly pop in Björnsson’s qualities. “They made the mountain a CB [centre back]” she wrote on Instagram. “What kind of conflict would that be – [but] How are they going to make it faster than me? Björnsson’s speed rating of 65 is well above the stingy 44 attributed to Akinfenwa for the same trait.

A total of 87 points may seem counter-intuitive, but Björnsson has real sporting experience. Between 2004 and 2008, he played for Iceland’s top four basketball clubs and made 32 appearances for his country’s national youth team. He has also won Europe’s strongest man contest four times and the global version once in 2018.

The FIFA players responded with humor similar to Akinfenwa’s and largely mocked the slowness of this year’s game, particularly with regard to slow defenders chasing fast forwards.

“He will go into a corner then defeat TOTY Mbappe box-to-box counterattacks,” Shevchenko7cfc wrote on Reddit.

“Next EA promotion: special Game of Thrones cards with TOTY stats,” wrote KiteTroll, with forum member Shifty18’s excellent response: “I’d buy this over some of the current junk. Jaime Lannister GK: a gauntlet of gold but a terrible grip.”

Fortunately, the card was specially designed for Björnsson and therefore will not be available to the general public. However, the Akinfenwa can be seized for a principality of 300 coins.

Game of Thrones’ Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane just got a FIFA 19 Ultimate Team card

Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane survived expulsion from the Riverlands, poisoning by Oberyn Martell and all manner of Qyburn experiments as one of Game of Thrones’ most popular, and beastly, characters – but the always rabid FIFA 19 community may be another challenge entirely.
The beast-man all GoT fans love to hate is now the proud owner of his very own Ultimate Team card, as revealed by another larger-than-life personality: Wycombe Wanderers centre forward Adebayo Akinfenwa. Actually, that’s a slight fib. It’s Clegane’s real-life alias, Icelandic actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who’s been rewarded with his own card.

They made the Mountain a CB. What a clash this would be 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ps how they gonna make him quicker than me 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️ #Fifa19 #Beast #Mountain #BMO Adebayo Akinfenwa

While Akinfenwa was the man who revealed the news, it came with a friendly pop at Björnsson’s attributes. “They made The Mountain a CB [centre back],” he wrote on Instagram. “What a clash this would be – [but] how they gonna make him quicker than me?” Björnsson’s Pace rating is 65, way ahead of the miserly 44 awarded to Akinfenwa for the same attribute.
An 87 overall rating may seem preposterous, but Björnsson does boast genuine sporting pedigree. He played for four top Icelandic basketball clubs between 2004 and 2008, racking up 32 games for his country’s junior national team. He’s also won the Europe’s Strongest Man contest four times, and the World version once, in 2018.

FIFA players responded with similar humour to Akinfenwa’s, largely mocking the way in which this year’s game has downgraded speed – particularly when it comes to slow defenders chasing fast strikers.
“He’ll go up for a corner and then beat TOTY Mbappe’s counter attack from box to box,” wrote Shevchenko7cfc on Reddit.
“Next EA promo: Game of Thrones special cards with TOTY stats,” wrote KiteTroll, drawing the following brilliant response from fellow forumite Shifty18: “I’d take that over some of the current garbage. Jaime Lannister GK: golden glove, but terrible handling.”
Mercifully, the card is custom-made for Björnsson, and so won’t be available for public use. Akinfenwa’s, however, can be nabbed for a princely 300 coins.
