Green Lantern’s Version of Venom Makes the Original Look Pathetic
The creatures head directly to Atlantis, and Aquaman’s partner Aqualad emerges to battle the threat. The two heroes realize the creature they’re battling isn’t the threat – it’s the parasites that surround and control it. Aqualad summons a massive underwater cyclone and separates the parasites from the alien – but the battle could easily have gone south and destroyed the oceans if he wasn’t there (since Green Lantern couldn’t match its speed underwater at all). This Venom equivalent almost single-handedly destroyed the world – something Marvel’s version is incapable of achieving.
Marvel’s Venom also has two major weaknesses: fire and sound. The first is negligible to an underwater creature, and the second doesn’t appear to affect it as much as it does Marvel’s symbiotes. Green Lantern, Aqualad, and copious amounts of luck are the only reason why DC’s version of Venom didn’t wreck havoc on the oceans of the DC’s Earth – and in the process, demonstrate how superior it can be to the Marvel counterpart.
