How Assassin’s Creed Valhalla links the lore of the series together

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will tie together lore from the series, according to narrative director Darby McDevitt.

In the upcoming issue of Official PlayStation Magazine #176, which goes on sale Tuesday, June 2, the team sat down with McDevitt to get a behind-the-scenes look at the next game in the Assassin’s Creed series.

One of the key questions McDevitt answers is how Valhalla will fit into the series’ deep lore and whether the Scandinavian adventure will be an important “bridge” to lore between the series’ Assassin’s Creed Origins and the original Assassin’s Creed. .

“We wanted to create a game that felt like it was starting to fill the void. [what] We created it with The Hidden Ones and The Order of Ancients in Origins. Indeed, even though these two groups have existed in our knowledge for thousands of years, we have always wanted to be historically anchored in the origins of the Templars.

“So this game is going to try to act as a kind of bridge between Origins and Origins. [the original] Assassin’s Creed is in a way where things start to set the stage for what will happen in most of the games that follow.

Of course, with so many games in the series right now, it can sometimes be difficult to connect all of these elements together, but McDevitt wants to make sure players also enjoy the connections they find between games.

I wanted fans to be able to travel the world, and they really felt like almost every turn they were discovering something that increased their knowledge of the set. [series], so it feels like there’s not a wasted moment in this game where you feel like every narrative exploration has some sort of grand purpose. I hope there will be plenty of times when your jaw drops because “Oh, it’s related to that.” OK it’s cool’.”

The full feature on OPM reveals many more details about the game, such as how the narrative will unfold in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and how important your placement in England is to the story. As McDevitt explains, “In this game, we have several overlapping parallel stories, like every movie has a plan A and a plan B. One of the constant stories is the evolution of your colony and its inhabitants. And as you grow, you feel increasing pain, and as a leader, you have to deal with it. And you have to make tough decisions.

We can’t wait to see how Valhalla fits into the overall Assassins’ Creed verse, and if you’re looking to hear more about Ubisoft’s next blockbuster, be sure to pick it up. OPM #176 of June 2or subscribe below so you don’t miss any issues.
