Cats are great! It is a fact. Well other animals too, but cats. Absolutely awesome. This cat drawing tutorial is a new addition to our ever-growing collection of step-by-step drawing tutorials for all ages.

We like to keep things simple, so we’ve made it as simple as possible while still keeping everything cute.

We kept the cat mostly non-woven because there are so many different types and that way you can choose your own fur when dyeing. You can do tabby, tortoiseshell, black and white, black and even pink and green striped – we’re not here to make the rules 😉 – let your imagination be your guide.

Step by step instructions for drawing a cat

Step 1

Start by drawing an oval shape for the head. It can be square, more circular or even slightly triangular.

Start by drawing an oval shape for the head

2nd step

It’s time to start making triangles. Draw two triangles for the ears and one for the nose. You can also make the nose oval or round.

Draw two pointed ears and a triangle for the nose

Step 3

Let’s face the cat! Draw two small triangular lines inside the periods. Make two dots for the eyes. So let’s mouth. Start by drawing a short straight line across the nose. Starting near this line (on the left), draw the crease of the mouth, lowering it and raising it to meet the line you drew under the nose. Continue with another curve.

Draw another curve below the two curves (in the middle). Bite.

Draw the eyes, finish the ears and draw the muzzle

Step 4

Draw a mustache.

Also start drawing the body. Draw two curved lines, one to the right and one to the left.

Two curved lines for the body and don't forget the wishes

step 5

Draw the feet. Start from the front (long U-shaped). The hind legs are optional but I think they can complete the look.

Make legs of a simple shape - first the front, then the back

Step 6

Almost done! Only a few more details remain. The line that completes the abdomen and the tail, like the legs.

Congratulations! You have just learned how to draw a cat.

Draw the tail and final details
