How to Make a Birthday Shaker Card – Homemade Birthday Card

We’ll show you how to create a Shaker Birthday Card, a card that will put a smile on the face of the birthday boy or girl.

This is a great idea for a homemade birthday card, especially since the bear template is included.

Maybe so, but we bet you haven’t created a gift card special enough to keep them grinning from ear to ear all day.

Today we are excited to show you how to craft this card.

How to make a simple shaker card

It’s one of our favorite things to do and it’s extremely shiny and very fragile.

How to Make a Shaker Birthday Card

What do you need:

  • card stock 11cm x 15cm
  • card stock 10cm x 14cm
  • 9cm x 13cm acetate sheet
  • double sided foam tape (we used 18mm tape)
  • double sided tape (we used 18mm split in half, 9mm each)
  • foam squares
  • sequins
  • pencil and ruler
  • scissors/knife
  • watercolor + brush
  • colouring pencils
  • baby powder
  • bear and balloon pattern

Stationary

Step by step instructions

Put some baby powder on both sides of the double-sided foam tape and rub it with your finger.

This will prevent the powder from sticking.

Step 1

Measure a 14cm strip and fold it in half. Measure an 8.5 cm strip and fold it in half.

Step 1-2

Then cut them vertically in half.

Steps 1 to 4

Measure 1cm horizontally and vertically from each corner of the 10cm x 14cm deck of cards. Then draw the lines with a pencil.

Use scissors (small children)/knife (adults) with the help of an adult to cut these lines.

Step 2-3

Scissors are the safest choice for young children.

Step 2-4

And that’s it, the window frame is finished.

Step 2-5

Put double-sided tape on each window line and remove the backing paper.

Step 3

Take the acetate sheet and carefully place it over the window, leaving an equal space on all sides.

Step 3-2

Press the acetate sheet with the ruler to adhere it to the tape.

Step 3-3

Lay the 14 mm strips vertically on the acetate sheet, then lay the 8.5 cm strips horizontally (shorten if necessary).

Step 4-0

Step 4-1

Mark 1cm from each corner of the 11cm x 15cm deck of cards.

Step 5-0

Draw watercolor stripes inside this area.

Insert the tampons!

Step 6

Remove the protective paper from the window and place the window on 11cm x 15cm card stock…

…leaving equal space on all sides.

Print and cut out the bear and the balloons (use cards), then color them in with colored pencils.

Step 7

Put foam squares on their backs.

Place the bear and the balloons on the acetate sheet.
