What do you need:

  • white paper
  • black paper
  • orange paper
  • brown paper
  • colorful card stock for background
  • the scissors
  • gum
  • black marker

step by step tutorial

Prepare your papers.

You’ll need a larger rectangle for the background – we used a card-sized rectangle (we folded a piece of paper in half and cut it to get our rectangle).

Next, you’ll need 3 sheets of white paper, 2 of which are about the same size and one is smaller (and thinner).

A strip of black paper (about the size of the smaller white strip) to have.

Semi-circular black paper will also be needed for the snowman hat.

Thin paper (we use blue in this lesson) will also be needed if you want to make the snowman hat more colorful.

Finally, a small triangle for the woman’s nose (you can also use an orange or red pom pom instead) and two brown twigs for the hands.

Exact measurements are not necessary here, the craft will be perfect.

Start by making the body of the snowman.

Take three strips of white paper and glue the ends together to make 3 rolls of paper.

Let the glue sit, once set, apply glue to one of the larger rolls of paper…

…and stick it under the base paper.

Take the second large roll, apply glue and glue it to the first.

Do the same with the smaller roll of white paper.

Next, take the black semicircle and apply glue to one side.

Glue the semicircle to the top of the snowman (the smallest of the 3 paper rolls).

Take a strip of black paper and roll it into a roll of paper (glue the ends together).

If you want to decorate, stick the thin strip of paper (blue) around the roll of black paper (bottom).

Apply glue to the roll of paper and glue it to the card just above the black semi-circle.

Add some glue to the ends of the branches (the brown paper ones) and glue them to the snowman.

Draw the eyes, mouth and buttons with a black pencil (or any other pencil if you want the buttons colored).

Add some glue to the orange triangle and glue it to the snowman.

Completed! Now you know how to make a paper snowman and you can show it to your kids.
