How to make paper daffodils - step by step tutorial

Narcissus is one of the most beautiful flowers that bloom in spring. They are symbols of rebirth and new beginnings, so it’s no wonder they go hand in hand with spring.

We love this flower craft idea because it can be a very versatile project.

This can be a great spring craft for older kids, a great decoration – imagine a spring wreath made from these paper daffodils. You can use them as decorations on your spring table. They would look great on your spring bulletin board. Need to spruce up your room? Why not use them as wall stickers? So many fun ways to use them just because they look so good.

And even better (even the best 😉 are “proof of failure”. You and your kids can use our template to make this picture perfect (you can get it at the end of this tutorial. We love to do it yourself -even), sometimes a good old template changes everything. Print it and make your paper daffodils.

  • our printable template (available at the end of this tutorial)
  • Construction paper or scrapbook paper in “daffodil” colors
  • green construction paper or scrapbook paper
  • gum
  • the scissors
  • pencil to trace the template

Step by step instructions

Print our model (you can get it at the end of this tutorial). Cut out the pieces and trace the shapes on the corresponding sheets of paper.

Draw the leaves on green paper, on one of the “daffodil” flowers choose another dark “daffodil” shape for the spiral and yellow for the pistil. Cut out the pieces, cut the edges of the small rectangle (see photo below).

Step 1 - Cut out the shapes

Let’s make petals. Take the flower part and make folds between each petal.

2nd step

Apply a small amount of glue to the “half-petal” shape.

Step 3

Push the “half petal” part with the glue on the bottom of the petal on the left side. This will create a flower shape.

Step 4

Now to make the inner petals. Take the spiral and start rolling it from the outside to the center.

When you reach the center, apply a small amount of glue to the end of the spiral and push it under the rolled “flower”. Keep it together for a while for the glue to set. Now take the rectangle and insert (glue!) it into a small tube.

Dip the central part of the flower in glue and glue it to the rolled part of the petal.

Step 6

Apply a generous amount of glue to the center of the large petal and press the small spiral leaf onto the glue. Let the glue set.

Step 7the final touch

It’s time to make paper daffodils even more whimsical. Fold each of the petals a little.

Almost done

Hold the tip of each petal by the edges with two fingers and squeeze. This will make a beautifully textured pointed tip.

Finishing detailsGlue one or two sheets underneath.
