Huawei Watch Fit 2 Vs. Watch Fit: What’s New?
The Huawei Watch Fit 2 has a 1.76-inch AMOLED touch display, an 18.6 percent increase in size over its predecessor. Both watches have a heart rate sensor and SpO2 sensor for all-day heart rate and blood oxygen level monitoring. There is also support for sleep tracking, women’s health tracking, and stress monitoring. The Watch Fit 2 has 97 supported workout modes, in contrast to the Watch Fit’s 96 modes. While Huawei has brought back animated workouts on the Fit 2, it has also included guides for pre-run warm-ups and post-run cool-offs.
The Watch Fit 2 has borrowed some features from the Watch GT Runner, bringing improvements to running data. In addition to basic info such as heart rate, distance, pace, and time, the watch will also display metrics such as running force index and training load. Location tracking has also received a boost as the GNSS module now supports the five major satellite systems, unlike the original which only supported one. There is also support for importing and exporting routes, allowing users to share their runs with friends. The new wearable swaps the 6-axis sensor of the first-gen model for a 9-axis one that adds a geomagnetic sensor (compass), but it loses the capacitive and ambient light sensors. Both watches feature 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, but the Watch Fit 2 features Bluetooth 5.2 compared to Bluetooth 5.0 on the original model. It also adds NFC to the mix.
There is a microphone on the Watch Fit 2 just like its predecessor, so users can summon the built-in assistant (supported only on Huawei devices). It also includes a speaker that allows users to take phone calls over Bluetooth, a feature not available on the previous model. The speaker makes guided workouts better as there is accompanying audio now. There is also support for app notifications. Despite the bigger screen, the battery life is still the same. Huawei says the watch will last up to 10 days in typical usage mode but drops to seven days in heavy usage mode. The Watch Fit 2 is available in Europe with a starting price of €149 ($157). The first generation model has already received a price cut and can be purchased for €79 ($83) in Europe. While the original Huawei Watch Fit wasn’t officially available in the U.S, it was sold on websites like Amazon, so the Watch Fit 2 could also be available in the country via third-party retailers.
