I tried Chris Hemsworth’s 35-minute bodyweight workout — here’s what happened

If you’re looking for an exercise that will build muscle without weights, why not look to Thor himself? Chris Hemsworth shared a 35-minute bodyweight workout, so I tried it while traveling to see if I could get into superhero shape without a gym nearby.

Needless to say, Hemsworth is in great shape, with his arms just as visible on Thor as his lightning-charged hammer (see Figure 1). definitive arm training followed by Hemsworth here). Yet, like the rest of us, Hemsworth has to find himself without a fancy on-the-go gym, so how does he stay in shape using only body weight? The answer is supersets – two exercises in a row to overload a particular muscle group and force it to work harder. Hemsworth’s bodyweight training consists of five supersets of 20 seconds of rest, a 30 second exercise, and a 20 second workout. The circuit lasts seven minutes and Hemsworth recommends repeating it five times in total.

Keys — 30 seconds
Board departures – 20 seconds
Rest – 20 seconds
Burpees — 30 seconds
Finger exercise – 20 seconds
Rest – 20 seconds
Elbow Mountaineer – 30 seconds
Seated in V, knee bent – 20 seconds
Rest – 20 seconds
Prisoner Squat — 30 seconds
Scissors – 20 seconds
Rest – 20 seconds
Plank jacks and push-ups — 30 seconds
Jumping movements – 20 seconds

I Tried Chris Hemsworth’s 35 Minute Bodyweight Workout – Here’s What Happened

When it comes to staying fit on the go, I normally prefer going for a run rather than hitting the hotel gym. However, this morning it was still dark and I didn’t like running alone in the Peak District. Instead, I made room in my hotel room and tried this 35-minute weight training session, and wow, it was intense.

The goal of HIIT-style training is to challenge yourself because you only do each exercise for a short period of time. While I certainly won’t do as many reps as Hemsworth (because a. I’m not Thor and b. I was a bit hungover this morning), I enjoyed the fast pace of this workout , which is not bad at all. gives you plenty of downtime.

I also found the workout works most major muscle groups, making it a great total body workout for those still exercising at home. I had completed a 10 mile walk the day before, so my legs definitely felt the doomed burpees and squats, but I burned my heart and arms as well.

I’ll probably go back to weight training and Pilates when I get home, but this workout reminded me that you can get your heart rate up and burn a fair amount of calories using just your body weight.

Spoiler alert: I haven’t finished training with anything like Thor (read, it’s a sweaty mess), but if you’re looking for a circuit that will make you work hard, I found it.
