Iron Man & Doctor Strange’s Bromance is a Big MCU Missed Opportunity

While a greater bond between the two heroes in the same vein would have been featured in Infinity War…it was ultimately cut. In the confirmed sequence, the MCU’s Iron Man and Doctor Strange would have fought the Ebony Maw by temporarily trading abilities. Tony would have gained Strange’s Cloak of Levitation while Stephen would have received Stark’s armor, catching the Maw off guard for a grander fight rather than the servant of Thanos simply being sucked into space. As such, it would have been the perfect launchpad for the heroes to develop a friendship rather than remaining frenemies.
In a perfect timeline, having awesome facial hair would have unified the MCU’s Iron Man and Doctor Strange just as it does in the comics, transcending their opposing fields of science and sorcery respectively. At any rate, the arc in Invincible Iron Man is a lot of fun while also pointing out the shared connection that Iron Man and Doctor Strange both became better people after experiencing similarly traumatic origins, motivating their journies of self-discovery and empowerment which led to them both helping others as heroes (albeit with their own methods).
