What you need:

  • a piece of red paper (origami or regular cut into a square shape)
  • black paper
  • white paper
  • black marker
  • glue
  • scissors

The folding instruction for this one are the same as with the sailboat corner bookmark we did a while, so I’ll be using the same photos to guide you through the project.

Start by folding the red paper diagonally. Fold into a triangle. Grab the top corner of the triangle, one layer only – as indicated by the pink dot on the image below and fold it towards the bottom, as indicated by the pink dot.

Making the Corner Bookmark

Now grab hold of the left (or right) corner of the triangle and fold it towards the middle (as indicated by the pink dot). Crease well. Repeat with the other corner. Unfold.

Making the origami bookmark

Gran the left (or right) corner of the triangle again, this time bringing it to the top (as indicated by the pink dot). Crease. Repeat with the other side. Now tuck the flap into the pocket, grab the top as indicated by the dot and push it inside the pocket. Do the same with the other. Crease.

Last steps in making a bookmark

Time to decorate the ladybug. The idea is the same as with the sailboat, with some decorative changes 🙂 . Cut a triangle that fits into the “square” out of black paper. Glue it on the corner bookmark (on the single layer part). Now cut an round shape – this way getting the head (on the instructions photos, this equals to the brown boat part).

Sailboat Bookmark

Cut two white eyes and stick them on. Now take a black marker and draw the eyes, a straight line on the middle and seven little dots.

This adorable ladybug corner bookmark is ready to save your pages!
