LOTR: Gollum Game Gets Release Date (& It’s Surprisingly Soon)

LOTR Gollum follows Gollum on his journey through Mordor, where he is captured and tortured within the dungeons of Barad-dûr, where Sauron first learns of the existence of the Shire. Gollum manages to escape and is captured by Aragorn, who takes him to Mirkwood and to the realm of King Thranduil, where he is imprisoned. Gollum escapes once more and eventually makes his way to the Mines of Moria, where he is spotted by the Fellowship of the Ring. LOTR Gollum will feature familiar characters from the novels, including Gandalf, as well as some new characters created by the developers.

Gollum’s story may seem like an odd choice for a game based on The Lord of the Rings, as a location like Middle-earth is full of stories waiting to be told. However, his importance to all aspects of The Lord of The Rings’ narrative makes his journey an exciting addition for fans of the series. LOTR Gollum will hopefully flesh out Gollum’s story in ways that have never been seen before, with the player able to guide him along the way.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released for PC, PS4, PS5 Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on September 1st, 2022, with a Nintendo Switch port planned for later in the year.
