Mads Mikkelsen says Indiana Jones 5 gets back to the ‘original feel’ of the first and second movies

Mads Mikkelsen has revealed that the next Indiana Jones movie is going back to his roots.

In 2021, it was announced that Mikkelsen would join the cast of the self-titled sequel, alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas and, of course, Harrison Ford.

While not much has been revealed about the new film, Mikkelsen says it reflects the classic action-adventure nostalgia of the first two installments.

“[Raiders of the Lost Ark] It was one of my favorite movies and it divulged that golden era of the 1940s TV series — and it’s in that fifth movie, too,” Mikkelsen told The Hollywood Reporter. And they get something epic.

While Steven Spielberg directed the first four films in the epic adventure franchise, the fifth installment is the first to hand over the reins to another director – James Mangold, who directed the Ford V Ferrari, alongside Logan and The Wolverine directed by Hugh Jackman. . “It felt like a Spielberg movie, although frankly James did it with the same vision,” says Mikkelsen.

While Spielberg has stepped down, Ford, now 80, is expected to reprise his role as Indiana Jones. Mikkelsen was both impressed and somewhat frightened by the old Ford’s energy and power.

“I met him for the first time and he’s an incredibly strong person,” she says. “Not just as an actor, but also physically. I remember the first day we shot, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5 a.m. and then he got on his mountain bike and was gone for a 50 km bike ride Harrison is a monster, a very nice monster.

Mikkelsen plays Gillert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets, reprising the role of Johnny Depp, who was fired after Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2018. The film is currently in theaters.

Harrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster.”
