Mandalorian Season 3 Could Make Up for The Book of Boba Fett

The shift to that narrative and dynamic (teasing heavy themes about Din’s relationship with the Mandalorian culture) is perhaps what was most promising about the trailer. As beloved as the show is, some have pointed out the formulaic nature of Mandalorian episodes so far. A concern following The Book of Boba Fett finale was that the status quo had been re-established and The Mandalorian season 3 will be more of the same. While the series will undoubtedly continue to feature more adorable Grogu hijinks (the ones shown in the trailer were a hit with the crowd), it’s encouraging the creative team seems to know they can’t just rest on their laurels. They’re mixing things up a bit, and the Celebration crowd seemed to appreciate the direction The Mandalorian is headed in – and of course, they can’t wait to see full set pieces like Din’s thrilling dogfight in his revamped N-1 starfighter.

While it may not be the most surprising development the first look at The Mandalorian season 3 went over well at Star Wars Celebration, it’s exactly what Lucasfilm needed. The Star Wars movies are still in a state of flux, with no new developments announced during the showcase. For now, the studio’s focus is primarily on TV shows, and The Mandalorian is the crown jewel of that batch. It’s imperative The Mandalorian continues to be at the highest quality possible, especially as it continues to spawn more spinoff series like the upcoming Ahsoka. Fortunately, the Celebration crowd is in agreement The Mandalorian season 3 will live up to the hype. It got some of the biggest reactions out of the entire showcase, and coming on the heels of The Book of Boba Fett’s underwhelming response, that’s great to see.
