Marvel’s Avengers Adds Thor’s Cosmic Herald Comic Outfit

Thor’s comic-inspired Cosmic Herald Outfit, which depicts him as an ally of Galactus, has been added to Marvel’s Avengers. Crystal Dynamics’ multiplayer Marvel game includes a large Marketplace filled with cosmetic items drawn from both comic book history and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently Marvel’s Avengers added a Ms. Marvel nanotech suit, which is pulled directly from the pages of Marvel Comics, and now Thor has received his Herald of Thunder garb.

Marvel’s Avengers gives players a wide range of different cosmetic and playable characters to choose from, but since release the game has struggled to maintain a loyal playerbase. Microtransactions and technical issues have marred the superhero experience, and despite multiple free updates Marvel’s Avengers still lacks any meaningful content to draw players back. New cosmetic items are still added to the game on an almost weekly basis, but the game’s microtransaction system means players must pay real money for them. The recently-released 2.4 update improved events and rewards in Marvel’s Avengers, but the game still leaves much to be desired.

Revealed by Marvel’s Avengers via Twitter, Thor’s comic-inspired Cosmic Herald Outfit imbues the God of Thunder with the Power Cosmic. First appearing in the 2020 storyline The Devourer King, the godly costume is the result of Thor allying himself with Galactus the World Eater to prevent the end of the universe. The in-game outfit perfectly recreates the regal cosmic design, which gives Thor bleached-white hair and a divine circlet for a crown. His eyes glow white with power, and the suit is even dotted with shining stars. Thor’s Cosmic Herald Outfit is available for purchase from the Marvel’s Avengers Marketplace now.

While comic-inspired outfits are always exciting, many Marvel’s Avengers fans are more interested in Marvel Cinematic Universe designs. For example, the Iron Man armor from Captain America: Civil War was recently added to the game by developer Crystal Dynamics. The game actually launched without any live-action skins, and they quickly became the playerbase’s most frequently-requested feature. Since then Marvel’s Avengers has received cosmetic outfits from films like Avengers: EndgameCaptain America: Civil WarBlack Widow and more. Still, many players have criticized Marvel’s Avengers for monetizing MCU skins rather than making them earned in-game.

Marvel’s Avengers has focused heavily on MCU outfits, so seeing comic-inspired designs appear in-game is a wonderful treat. Thor’s Cosmic Herald Outfit portrays the God of Thunder at the height of his power as he wields both Asgardian might and Galactus’ Power Cosmic. For players interested in obtaining this otherworldly attire, the Cosmic Herald Outfit is now available in the Marvel’s Avengers Marketplace.

Marvel’s Avengers is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Google Stadia.
