Masked Singer: Cheyenne Jackson Reveals His Children’s Reaction To Show
Prince from The Masked Singer season 7 turned out to be Cheyenne Jackson, and he revealed what his 5-year-old twins thought about him being on the show. Cheyenne is an actor and singer who has starred in nine Broadway shows and currently plays Max Kingbird on Call Me Kat. During his time as Prince on The Masked Singer, he delivered impressive performances of “La Copa de la Vida” by Ricky Martin, “Lay Me Down” by Sam Smith, and “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder which earned him a place in the finals to compete against Firefly and Ringmaster. Although he performed a rousing rendition of “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay in the finale, he ending up placing third behind runner-up Hayley Orrantia (Ringmaster) and winner Teyana Taylor (Firefly).

In September 2014, Cheyenne married actor Jason Landau. They welcomed their twins, a girl named Willow and a boy named Ethan, into the world in October 2016. When he was revealed on The Masked Singer, Cheyenne shared that he had expressed to Willow that he was scared before he was leaving for the show on the first day. She gave him a rock that said “courage” on it. The wardrobe department sewed the stone into his costume, so he had it with him the whole time that he was performing.
In an interview with EW, Cheyenne revealed that he wanted to do The Masked Singer because he thought that his twins would think it was “hysterical and amazing. And they do.” He said that he told them that he was on The Masked Singer because they are 5 and in preschool and, “who are they going to tell anyway?” Cheyenne said that Willow and Ethan called The Masked Singer, “Frog.” He shared that he would film Call Me Kat, and when it was time for him to go to The Masked Singer, they would say, “Are you going to Frog now?” Cheyenne explained that “they didn’t quite get it until it started airing. And then they just were like, ‘That’s you? That’s you!’ And then they love to stand on the couch and scream, ‘Take it off!’”
Cheyenne went on to say that he wondered if his daughter would be sad that he did not win The Masked Singer because when he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy this year and didn’t win, she cried. Cheyenne shared that he told her, “Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. And that’s the way life is.” He said that, to him, making it to the finale is winning because all he wanted to do was not go home first. He just wanted “a couple of great songs.” Cheyenne concluded by saying that his husband was there with him the whole time and their reaction to him making it to the finale was, “This is nuts.”
Although Cheyenne did not bring home the Golden Mask on The Masked Singer, he was able to teach his children an important lesson about facing fears to achieve a goal. Willow and Ethan’s support of their father as Prince is very sweet. With his loving husband and adoring children, Cheyenne had already won.
