New No Man’s Sky Update Lets Players Be Space Pirates

The Outlaws update is rolling out to consoles and PC today

Game developer Hello Games releases update 3.85 No Man Sky, title bandits, where players can live out their space pirate dreams.

The update, released today, adds a smuggling mechanic where players can obtain illegal items from illegal systems and sell them for lots of in-game currency. 3.85 brings many graphical changes and improves space combat with new features.

No Man's Sky Solar Spaceship

As a space pirate, players can accept new “procedurally generated missions” from Bounty Masters, where you terrorize the local star system. But as a space pirate, you will have to face the Sentinels guarding these resources.

If you’d rather go legit, players can instead protect settlements from pirate raids or engage in dogfights with enhanced space battles rebalanced for challenge and speed. According to Hello Games, new solar-powered spaceships with unique characteristics are available, but the developer didn’t specify what they are.

Ships now also have an autopilot that automatically targets enemies, and players can hire pilots to form a fleet.

As mentioned earlier, the visuals of the game have also been improved. Explosions for ships and freighters have been overhauled to be more dramatic, and a new cloth physics engine has been added to realistically simulate draped cowls and capes.

The update also includes bug fixes and performance optimizations, so the game should crash less now. No Man’s Sky bandits now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X/S and Steam.
