New set photos from Nolan’s Oppenheimer picture Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. suited and booted

Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. looked lively on the set of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

The film is the biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer, considered the father of the atomic bomb. Murphy plays the scientist himself, Downey Jr. and Lewis Strauss, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, who played a major role in revoking Oppenheimer’s security clearance.

In the images you can see below, Murphy is sporting a hat and suspenders, and Downey Jr. is gray-haired. He also dresses the same way.

Oppenheimer has an absolutely terrific cast, with just about anyone you could think of joining the cast. A Deep Breath: Kenneth Branagh, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Gary Oldman, Gustaf Skarsgård, Matt Damon, Jason Clarke, Jack Quaid, Michael Angarano, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, James D’Arcy, Josh Peck, Dane DeHaan, Tony Goldwyn , David Dastmalchian, Matthias Schweighöfer, Benny Safdie, Alex Wolff, Alden Ehrenreich and (a few) more are part of the cast. Wow.

The film is Nolan’s next project after 2020’s Tenet, which was released amid the pandemic. Universal described Oppenheimer as an epic thriller that “places viewers in the fast-paced paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world to save it.” With such a great cast and Nolan behind the camera, the movie turns into something really special.

Oppenheimer will also be a theatrical exclusive and is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2023. In the meantime, check out our rundown of all the major movie release dates for 2022 to see what this year has in store.
