Universal Pictures reportedly named Louis Leterrier as the new director of Fast 10 just days after Justin Lin announced his surprise departure.
Production on the tenth installment of the Fast series was put on hold in April after Lin abruptly quit directing the film. Several reports claim that Louis Leterrier, director of Clash of the Titans and Now You See Me, is currently in negotiations to replace him.
Leterrier’s film credits include The Transporter, Transporter 2, The Incredible Hulk (the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Grimbsy, and upcoming Netflix action comedy The Takedown. Leterrier also directed the first season of streaming platform’s Dark Crystal prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, as well as three episodes of the heist drama Lupin.
Following the release announcement, Lin He made a statement on Twitter. expresses his gratitude to the cast, crew and studio. “With the support of Universal, I made the difficult decision to step back as director of Fast 10 while continuing the project as a producer,” he said. “In 10 years and five films, we have managed to shoot the best actors, the best stuntmen and the best car chases.”
Prior to news of Leterrier’s takeover, F. Gary Gray (Fate of the Furious) and David Leitch (Hobbs & Shaw) were named as possible replacements.
