Obi-Wan’s Flashback Nightmare Pays Off Clone Wars Deleted Scene
Unfortunately, this dynamic conversation in The Clone Wars didn’t make the cut, being part of the handful of episodes left on the wayside in the wake of Disney’s Lucasfilm purchase in 2012. However, it was released in its pre-visualized format online and has since been edited by Star Wars fans who recognized its value. It’s very similar to Boba Fett and Cad Bane’s referenced backstory in The Book of Boba Fett which was only ever seen in deleted and unfinished sequences of The Clone Wars as well. While it’s not overtly referenced in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi master struggling to sleep does help canonize his own deleted scene.
At any rate, Obi-Wan being haunted by his perceived failings with Anakin even a decade later makes sense. After all, Anakin was the prophesied Chosen One who was supposed to bring balance to the Force. Combined with their friendship and brotherhood in The Clone Wars, with Kenobi believing he’d killed Anakin in Revenge of the Sith, it’s logical that he’d still be struggling with his guilt in the years that followed. As such, it’s going to make his dark reunion with Darth Vader that much more dynamic and heartbreaking as Obi-Wan Kenobi continues.
