OSOM OV1 Will Use The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Chipset

With the newly announced chip, the OSOM OV1 is shaping up to be a true flagship phone of 2022. The manufacturer already revealed the phone will be made from premium materials. The screen will be covered with Gorilla Glass Victus, the frame will be made of stainless steel, the back will be ceramic instead of glass, and the buttons will be titanium. While OSOM previously confirmed the OV1 will have an OLED display with a high-refresh rate, the dimensions of the screen remain unknown.

The company is also keeping the battery capacity under wraps, but did say that the phone will last beyond a day. The OV1 will also support wired charging (USB Power Delivery) via a USB-C port and the bundled USB-C cable will have a kill-switch that turns off data transfer when charging in public outlets. Official photos provided by OSOM show there will be two rear cameras – a 48MP main sensor and a 12MP secondary camera. There will also be a 16MP front-facing camera. Like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the phone will arrive with support for Ultra wideband (UWB), which means it should be capable of working as a digital car key among other things.

Unfortunately, while it will have 5G, it won’t have support for mmWave. There is also no eSIM, though it will support dual SIM and NFC. While the price of the phone will most likely not become public knowledge until it launches, OSOM previously said it will not cross the $1,000 mark, unlike many recent flagships. Considering the premium materials, top-of-the-line processor, and the rest of the specs, it’s unlikely the OSOM OV1 will sell for less than $800 when it becomes available in Canada, Europe, and the US.
