PlayStation DualSense Controllers Can Now Be Updated On PC Without A PS5

This update eliminates the slight inconvenience of having to deal with the PS5 update screen. If the player boots the console using the power button on an unupdated DualSense, they must go through a prompt screen before accessing the user menu or home screen. It is possible that the PS5 will delay further updates for 24 hours, but the player will continue to watch this screen until they perform the firmware update. People who keep their PS5 in an entertainment center no longer have to fiddle with the system when a controller update is released.

Like the Xbox Series X/S controller, DualSense is a great choice for PC gaming. Unique DualSense features like haptic feedback and adaptive controllers are even available in the Steam client for compatible games. When the PlayStation Plus service overhaul begins in June, we hope the PlayStation Now PC app will be updated for DualSense wireless support. Sony mentioned future support for the PC platform as well as older PS4 and PS5 special editions in the future, so it’s a good sign that DualSense has PC-specific apps. PlayStation 5.
