When it comes to fall crafts for kids, it’s all about forest animals, harvesting, and color-changing trees. When it comes to jungle animals, hedgehogs are one of the cutest, and this craft idea reflects that perfectly. It’s easy to do, and you can even add an apple or pear on top of the hedgehog to make it even more fun (although they don’t really wear them that way).
How to make a simple hedgehog paper craft
What do you need:
- light brown construction paper (letter or A4 size works great)
- dark brown construction paper
- black construction paper
- bulging eyes or eye stickers
- the scissors
- gum
step by step tutorial
We need a long light brown construction paper wide enough. We made ours about 2 inches / 5 cm wide.
You can fold the paper to create a straight cut line, then cut along the fold.
Apply glue to one end of the strip of paper.
Glue the ends together to form a “tear” shape.
Once the glue has hardened, you can trim the corners (or leave them as they are, or even make them pointy) to make them nice and rounded for the hedgehog’s face.
Next, we need to do the spikes. Cut a thin strip of dark brown construction paper (you may need more than one).
Cut the strip of paper into small pieces, cutting diagonally to create long diamond shapes.
Apply glue to the ends (only half)…
…and stick them on the body of the hedgehog.
Add as much as you want.
Cut an oval or round shape out of black kraft paper and glue it to the hedgehog.
Add two eyes and you’re done.
To have? Easy and sweet?
We love our simple hedgehog paper craft!
And we hope you will like it too and do a lot with your kids.

We need a long, fairly wide strip of light brown construction paper. We made ours to be about 2 inches / 5 cm wide.
To make a straight cut line, you can fold the paper to make a crease, then cut along the crease.
Apply glue to one end of the strip of paper.
Glue the ends together forming a “teardrop” shape.
When the glue sets, you can trim the corners to make them nice and round for the hedgehog’s face (or leave them as they are or even make them pointy).
