Siri adds a new voice in iOS 15.4 — here’s how to switch to it

When iOS 15.4 arrived earlier this week, it brought a visitor – a new voice for Siri. This means you can now choose from five different audio options for Apple’s built-in digital assistance, assuming you know where to change the setting.

Don’t worry – we can save you some time with settings by showing you exactly how to change Siri’s voice on your iPhone. But first, a little background on Siri’s ever-growing repertoire of voices.

Before last year, you only had two choices for Siri’s voice to speech, male or female. And by default, Apple assigns a female voice to your digital helper. But with iOS 14.5, Apple added two additional sounds. The goal then was the same as that new voice in iOS 15.4 a year later – to provide more inclusive Siri voice options that reflect the broader user base of Apple devices. The voice added with the iOS 15.4 update seems to be designed to be more asexual.

The previous iOS 14.5 update brought another change with Siri – your digital assistant voice is no longer set to female by default. Now, when you first set up your iPhone, you’ll be prompted to choose a Siri voice yourself.

But what if you download iOS 15.4 to an existing iPhone? Or want to go back and change Siri’s voice to another option like the new option added in iOS 15.4? It’s just a matter of going into the settings and hitting the right menus.

Here’s how to change Siri’s voice on your iPhone.

a. Launch Settings and go to Siri & Search.
