The Serpent Rogue: Potions Guide (Researching, Brewing, & Recipes)

Core ingredients are used to create potions that add or remove conditions and stats. Three ingredients need to be used in basic potions that add or remove an effect. These potions can also increase or decrease stats depending on which ingredients are combined. As long as the resources are researched, players can try any combination of ingredients to unlock different potion recipes.
Berries: Adds an effect or increases stats depending on other ingredients in the potion
Tea Leaves: Removes an effect or decreases stats depending on other ingredients in the potion
Shell: Alters an effect by five
Fishbone: Alters an effect by 10
Claw: Alters an effect by 20
Aloe: Affects Vitality
Charcoal: Affects Age
Sap: Affects food/stamina
Bottle of Water: Adds or removes stacks of the Wet condition
Sulfur: Adds or removes stacks of the Burn condition
Spore: Adds or removes stacks of the Poison condition
Adder Stone: Adds or removes stacks of the Soulless condition
Garlic: Adds or removes stacks of the Stinky condition
Thorner: Adds or removes stacks of the Wound condition

Potion recipes can be discovered by combining a base ingredient with a modifier and a trait or condition ingredient. The base ingredient determines if the potion will have a positive or negative effect. The potency will be set by the modifier, and what the potion does depends on the trait or condition ingredient added. Players can experiment with different combinations, but it’s important to note that if incompatible ingredients are combined, the resources will be lost and no potion will be brewed.

Potions can be used to summon creatures or transform a target depending on which ingredients are used. The creature components can be combined with Berries to create a summoning potion, or Mandragore to brew a transformation potion. The resulting potion will depend on which creature component was used. Additionally, players can only obtain a specific component from the creature it’s associated with. There are also other transformation ingredients besides creature components that can be used for potions with varying effects.
Mandragore: Can be used to transform a target when combined with a creature component or transformation ingredient
Restless Bone: Turns target into an undead Restless when combined with Mandragore
Butterfly: Brings target back to life when combined with Mandragore
Cursed Ember: Kills the target when combined with Mandragore
Poppy: Turns target into a female of their species when combined with Mandragore
Reed: Turns target into a male of their species when combined with Mandragore
Hair: A creature component obtained from a Human. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Chicken Feather: A creature component obtained from a Chicken. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Hound Wool: A creature component obtained from a Dog. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target when used in The Serpent Rogue.
Rat Hair: A creature component obtained from a Rat. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Toad Slime: A creature component obtained from a Toad. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Snake Scale: A creature component obtained from a Snake. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Ghoul Skin: A creature component obtained from a Ghoul. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Black Feather: A creature component obtained from a Valravn. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature in The Serpent Rogue, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Horn: A creature component obtained from a Faun. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
Gorgon Scale: A creature component obtained from a Gorgon. This ingredient can be combined with a Berry to summon the creature, or a Mandragore to transform the target.
All of the transformation potions require a Mandragore. Small amounts of Mandragore appear in the Wasteland and it has red leaves. It may take a while to complete the research for Mandragore and collect enough to brew the desired potions, but players can speed up the process by resting at the Camp and waiting for the zone to reset when a Corruption Storm passes. Potions are a big part of crafting in The Serpent Rogue, and researching and brewing often will help players progress quicker.
