Tom Hiddleston on appearing in Thor 4: “I’m not even doing an Andrew Garfield! I just don’t know”
Tom Hiddleston has long been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing as the villainous Loki in the first Thor movie. However, the actor manages to surprise with his role as the God of Mischief. His latest appearance in a Disney Plus series about Loki adds new dimensions to the character, showing that he still has mileage left in him.
“We’ve made some bold new choices,” he said of the first season, speaking to Total Film for the magazine’s new issue featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi on the cover. “Loki is going on a really big inner journey that feels so new and fresh. And I thought, ‘With or without Loki, I’d love to explore that kind of story. But it’s even more interesting that he’s Loki. ‘”
Speaking to the London hotel team, he continues:[Plyaing Loki] It is an inexhaustible source of surprise and delight throughout the journey. It’s definitely a part of my life now and always will be. You know, someone just walked into the bathroom and said, “Loki!” mentioned. And I said, [indicates to himself] ‘To Mr.’ And they went, ‘Sorry. Yes.’ But that’s what people see.”
Asked by TF about season 2 of Loki, Hiddleston takes a break. “What can I say? It continues to excite and challenge me…At the end of Season 1, the story doesn’t end. I think it’s really clear. Loki is almost more unstable and more turbulent, passionate and chaotic than ever. And maybe some of them need to be resolved. There are things to unveil.”
There are rumors that Loki could appear in both Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder. Asked about the latter, Hiddelston remains shy. “I live in a question mark,” he says. “It’s all unknown. You know, I used to think I could guess all this, but I have absolutely no idea. I’m not even Andrew Garfield! I just don’t know.”
Hiddleston’s in-depth interview spanning his entire career, including the new Essex Serpent series, is featured in the new issue of Total Film, featuring Obi-Wan on the cover.
