WWE NXT Viewership Reaches A New Record Low On USA Network

That’s a tough look for the NXT brand to be certain. Especially since Monday Night Raw has some interesting things going on. Perhaps the performers deserved a better fate than finishing 63rd in broadcast primetime, but the numbers don’t lie here. Spring Breakin’ failed to generate any interest in the show despite an awesome triple-threat match between Cameron Grimes, Carmelo Hayes and Sikoa for the NXT North American Title and a strong contest between Grayson Waller and Nathan Frazer. Cora Jade looked strong enough over the last two weeks and seems to have earned Natalya’s respect by not quitting in the main event. But if a wrestler doesn’t tap out to the sharpshooter in the middle of the woods and no one sees it, did it really happen?
The show is set up to be a training ground for up-and-coming superstars, and they appear to have some good ones in the works here. NXT is on a major television network for a reason, however, and that is to be watched by as many people as possible. While Jade, Gacy, Sikoa and Lyons all seem to have a bright future in WWE, that wasn’t enough to bring new eyeballs to the product this week. Or even maintain the momentum that could have been generated by Spring Breakin’. Fans of the brand will have to hang tight and hope that as the playoff brackets in the NBA and NHL shrink, eyeballs will begin to return to NXT.
