X-Men’s Sorcerer Supreme Slays in Video-Game Inspired Fan Art

In a stunning piece of fan art featuring the X-Men’s resident Sorcerer Supreme, Magik, the powerful hero looks great in a video game-inspired cover art. On their Twitter account, Joshua “Sway” Swaby shared their amazing take on Magik, which not only showcases the New Mutant with her own video game cover but does so while bringing back Anya Taylor-Joy’s version of the hero into the fold.
Magik has one of the more tragic origins in comics, as the hero was raised in Limbo, where she mastered the dark arts and eventually broke free. She would become a main member of the New Mutants team of the X-Men, where her dark magical powers would stand out among the rest. Magik would become more demonic-looking after summoning her mystical armor and Soulsword, as her Darkchilde persona represented her Limbo-based powers’ dark, corrupted side. In current continuity, Magik is the Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo. Magik made her live-action debut in New Mutants, where actress Anya Taylor-Joy played her.

On their Twitter account, artist Joshua “Sway” Swaby (Nubia and the Amazons) showed off their fan art of the X-Men’s Magik, which features the hero on a video game-inspired cover art. The PlayStation 2 game is called “Magik: Rise of the Darkchilde,” as the image shows the hero striking a pose. The details surrounding the piece are perfect, as it has a teen rating on the bottom left-hand side, is marked as being playable in the NTSC region, and has the iconic PS2 cover title across the top with the console’s logo.

If it wasn’t obvious, the talented artist clearly used Anya Taylor-Joy’s version of Magik as the primary reference for the fan art. The image makes us wish that not only was there a playable game starring Magik, as that would be a hellishly good time but that Taylor-Joy’s Illyana Rasputin take on the hero was given another chance in the MCU. New Mutants might not have been the film X-Men fans wanted, but Taylor-Joy was undoubtedly an excellent choice for Magik, who deserves a second shot with a better script. How much fun would it be to see Magik as the Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo in an upcoming Doctor Strange film?

The Marvel fan art is spectacular, as the video-game-inspired cover makes the Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo look great.
